Terrada Art Complex, Art museum in Tennōzu Isle, Japan
Terrada Art Complex is an art museum occupying two converted warehouse buildings on Tennōzu Isle, housing 18 independent galleries spread across multiple floors that showcase contemporary art exhibitions throughout the year. The spaces retain the industrial character of the original structures, creating an unconventional setting for modern art presentations.
The complex opened in 2016 and quickly became an important venue for Tokyo's contemporary art scene. Its conversion from industrial warehouses reflects the growing trend of revitalizing old structures for cultural purposes.
The facility incorporates TAC Gallery Space, art studios, and the Yokohama College of Arts and Design satellite campus, creating an integrated environment for art creation and education.
Galleries are open from 11 AM to 6 PM, extending to 8 PM on Fridays, and remain closed on Sundays, Mondays, and holidays. Plan your visit ahead since not all spaces may be active at the same time.
An oversized freight elevator, as large as a typical Tokyo apartment, transports both visitors and artworks between floors. This unusual elevator is functional while also becoming part of the visitor experience.
