Seaside Momochi Seaside Park, Urban beach park in Fukuoka, Japan
Seaside Momochi Seaside Park is an urban beach park along Hakata Bay with a 1-kilometer artificial beach, wide tree-lined streets, and futuristic buildings without overhead power lines. The grounds offer various leisure and shopping options set in a modern urban layout.
The park opened in 1989 as part of the Asia Pacific Expo and transformed reclaimed land into a modern waterfront destination. This development was part of Fukuoka's broader effort to revitalize the port area and reshape the city.
The Marizon complex within the park contains restaurants, shops, and a wedding venue that reflect how Japanese people enjoy spending free time by the water and dining with bay views.
The area is accessible on foot in about 15 minutes from Nishijin subway station or by bus line W1 from Tenjin. More than 300 parking spaces are available for those arriving by car.
A tower within the park features thousands of mirrored surfaces that reflect sunlight across the bay, creating a striking light display. An observation deck set high above the ground offers expansive views of the entire bay and cityscape.
