Shikoku Automobile Museum, Automobile museum in Konan, Japan
The Shikoku Automobile Museum displays around 70 vehicles spanning classic automobiles, motorcycles, and vintage racing cars from multiple decades. The collection features both domestically produced and imported models from renowned international manufacturers.
The museum was established in 1990 and originally located in Otochi Town before moving to Kōnan City in 2001. The relocation allowed the facility to expand and develop its collection further.
The collection brings together Japanese and European automotive engineering, with two Toyota 2000GT models displayed alongside Ferraris, Alfa Romeos, and other Italian sports cars. These vehicles show how Japanese manufacturers engaged with international design traditions.
The museum sits near Kōchi Airport and is straightforward to reach by car from the surrounding area. Plan to spend several hours exploring the vehicles at a comfortable pace, as the space allows for leisurely viewing.
The museum displays the experimental Toyota MR2 '222D' WRC Group S prototype, a rare racing vehicle that many visitors overlook. This piece showcases Japan's involvement in international motorsport competition.
