Kasayama

Kasayama is a volcanic mountain located on a peninsula north of Hagi that rises to around 112 meters in elevation. A small crater sits at the summit, and the mountain forms part of a protected coastal park.

The mountain formed from volcanic pyroclastic materials and andesite lava that created its distinctive cone shape. This geological origin makes it a notable landmark within the broader coastal landscape.

The mountain slopes host natural woodlands filled with camellia trees that flower in late winter and early spring. People come here to walk through the forests and enjoy the seasonal blooms.

The main path to the summit starts from Myojinike Pond at the mountain's base and takes about 30 minutes on foot. Buses run from Hagi Bus Center to reach the trailhead, making access straightforward.

Wind caves at the mountain's base release cool air through rocky openings created by rain and seawater interacting beneath the surface. This natural cooling effect creates a notable feature that visitors can experience during their visit.
