Tokyo Midtown Hibiya, Commercial skyscraper and department store in Yūrakuchō, Japan.
Tokyo Midtown Hibiya is a modern commercial tower in Yūrakuchō that rises 192 meters with 35 floors above ground and 4 basement levels for retail and parking. The building combines a department store, office space, a cinema complex, restaurants, and the Hibiya Central Market across its multiple levels.
The site previously held the Sanshin Building from 1930 and the Hibiya Mitsui Building from 1960 before being redeveloped. The current structure was completed in 2018 as part of a major urban renewal project in this central Tokyo location.
The building brings together shops, restaurants, and entertainment spaces that serve as a gathering place for both locals and visitors seeking modern shopping and dining experiences. These different venues create a social hub where people naturally spend time beyond just making purchases.
The building is open from 11 AM to 11 PM daily and offers complete wheelchair accessibility throughout all retail and dining areas. Multiple entrances and clearly marked elevators make it easy to navigate between different shopping and restaurant sections.
The building features a concave glass facade designed by Hopkins Architects that creates striking reflections on the surrounding Tokyo streets. This curved design element produces changing optical effects throughout the day as light conditions shift.
