DN Tower 21, Protected office building in Yurakucho, Japan.
DN Tower 21 is a 99.8-meter office tower with 24 floors located in Yūrakuchō, Tokyo, bordering Meiji-dori street and featuring a granite exterior. The structure fits into the dense network of high-rises in the business district and houses corporate offices today.
The predecessor building served as General MacArthur's headquarters during the Allied occupation of Japan in the late 1940s and early 1950s following World War II. The current tower was built later, integrating parts of the historical structure.
Two sections of the original Dai-Ichi Seimei and Norinchukin Bank buildings are integrated into the facade, showing how Tokyo incorporates historical architecture into modern office towers. These preserved parts now carry city-designated protection status, reminding passersby of the post-war era.
The tower is directly accessible through underground passages from Hibiya Station (exit B2) and Yūrakuchō Station (exit D1), making it easy to reach in any weather. The ground floor is publicly accessible, but office floors remain closed to visitors.
MacArthur's former office remains preserved within the building, though it is closed to the public. This room is one of the few places in Tokyo directly tied to the occupation period.
