Dai-ichi Seimei Hall, High-rise building in Yurakucho, Tokyo, Japan.
Dai-ichi Seimei Hall is a ten-story tower block with a granite exterior and distinctive square columns running along its western side. The stone-faced walls and structural elements define this early skyscraper design in the heart of the city.
The building was constructed in the 1930s during Tokyo's rapid growth period. From 1945 to 1952, it served as the regional command center for post-war Allied occupation operations.
The building shows how Japanese and Western design ideas came together during Tokyo's modernization in the 1930s. You can see this blend in the details of the facade and how the space was organized for both business and ceremony.
The location is just a minute's walk from Yūrakuchō Station and connects directly to Hibiya Station through underground passages. This central position makes it easy to reach whether you arrive by train or explore the surrounding neighborhood on foot.
Inside the building is a memorial room that preserves the original office space where major decisions about Japan's recovery were made during the occupation years. This preserved interior offers visitors a direct look into where post-war administration actually happened.
