Shrine of Our Lady of Mercy, Catholic church building and Marian shrine in Novaliches, Quezon City, Philippines.
The Shrine of Our Lady of Mercy stands as a modernist religious structure featuring one central dome and two towers, housing three distinct images of the Virgin Mary including the wooden 'La Verdadera' sculpture adorned with a 14-karat gold crown decorated with pearls and diamonds.
Originally established in 1856 by Augustinian missionaries as the Chapel of Corpus Christi, the church survived destruction during the 1896 Philippine Revolution and was reconstructed in 1928, making it the oldest parish within the Diocese of Novaliches.
The shrine serves as a center for Marian devotion under the title 'Ina ng Novaliches' since 2021, hosting annual celebrations on September 24 with processions featuring the decorated images of Our Lady of Mercy that attract pilgrims from across the Philippines.
Located at the intersection of Quirino Highway and Geronimo Street, the shrine offers multiple daily masses with early morning and evening services, and visitors can easily access it via public transportation from Quezon Avenue Metro Station or Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
The church preserves a gold chalice encrusted with amethysts donated by Manuel Pavía y Lacy, the first Marquis de Novaliches, and features an 18-bell carillon blessed in 2009 that signals special occasions and feast days throughout the year.
