Quezon City, Most populous city in Metro Manila, Philippines
Quezon City is a large administrative division inside Metro Manila, covering office districts, residential blocks, university grounds and shopping centers linked by wide roads. Open parks and green circles interrupt the grid in several locations, giving the layout breathing space amid the dense construction.
Manuel L. Quezon established the site in 1939 as the country's future capital, offering a planned alternative to Manila's overcrowding. The national legislature moved its chambers here soon after, though later reforms shifted some official functions back to the older core.
Families meet under the trees at Quezon Memorial Circle, and on weekends local festivals fill the open space with food stalls and performances. Street vendors line the walkways offering grilled corn, cold drinks and small snacks while neighbors take slow laps in the morning or evening.
Metro lines connect the area to the rest of Manila, and public buses travel the main corridors throughout the day. Jeepneys and tricycles cover shorter distances between neighborhoods, though congestion slows most routes during morning and evening hours.
The national broadcasting network ABS-CBN built its headquarters here, and the complex remains a center for television production even after the station lost its license. Visitors sometimes spot actors or crew members near the gates during filming breaks.
