Имение Меллас, имение на Южном берегу Крыма, основанное в первой половине XIX века
Mellás Estate is a manor house with surrounding gardens on Crimea's southern coast. The main building is constructed from gray limestone with multiple stories and three corner towers featuring ornamental details that blend Italian Renaissance and Moorish architectural elements.
The estate was built in 1834 for Count Lev Perovsky as a summer retreat. Following early 20th-century changes, the property was converted into a sanatorium, which continues to operate as a health and wellness facility today.
The estate takes its name from the Greek word for dark, referencing the shadowed cliffs that rise above the site. Over generations, it served as a retreat for the wealthy and continues to embody how the local community values historical architecture and natural surroundings as connected to their cultural identity.
Access to the grounds is currently limited due to restoration work, so contacting the sanatorium in advance is necessary. When visiting, you can walk the peaceful paths through parts of the park and gardens at a leisurely pace.
Below the main building lies a wine cellar that reflects the region's tradition of wine production and storage. Additionally, a mineral spring on the grounds has water composition similar to the famous healing waters of the Caucasus.
