The round Taynitskaya Tower stands at the steep slope of Pochayna ravine with three tiers of loopholes and a watchtower on top.
During World War II, the tower roof was removed to install anti-aircraft guns protecting the city from German air raids.
The tower received its name from a secret underground passage that led to the Pochayna River, allowing water collection during long sieges.
After renovation works in 2019, visitors can access the observation platform at the highest level of the tower.
The tower stored gunpowder in the 17th century, with a powder factory constructed nearby in the ravine.
