The Ivanovskaya Tower stands as the largest fortification structure of Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, located between the Clock and White towers.
Construction of the tower started in 1500 under Ivan III and served as a key defensive point protecting the trading quarter and river ports until 1887.
The tower houses an exhibition dedicated to the People's Unity Movement, displaying weapons and armor from the early 17th century liberation of Moscow.
The tower underwent extensive reconstruction in the 1950s, doubling its height and incorporating modern features like glass installations in the passageway.
In 1531, a gunpowder explosion inside the tower led to its complete reconstruction, changing its appearance from the original medieval fortification design.
