Skenäs gård, Manor house in Vingåker Municipality, Sweden
Skenäs gård is a manor house in Vingåker Municipality situated near Lake Kolsnaren and distinguished by its main building with four corner towers spanning three floors. The structure was built between 1876 and 1886 according to architect Emil Langlet's design principles and serves as the central feature of a larger estate.
The estate was first recorded in 1397 as Skedhanæsi and belonged to the Strängnäs bishopric during the 1500s before passing into crown control. The late 19th century rebuild transformed an older site into the structure that stands today.
The manor reflects the lifestyle of the Swedish gentry with its formal rooms and rural setting that shaped daily life for generations. The relationship between the main building and the surrounding farmland shows how the estate functioned as both a residence and working property.
Access is through rural grounds, and visitors should expect unpaved paths around the property. The best time to visit is during warmer months when the gardens and surrounding landscape are at their most pleasant.
Erik Dahlbergh significantly expanded the property by purchasing neighboring farms such as Ede, Mojanå, and Österby during his period of management. This consolidation of several smaller holdings made the estate one of the more substantial landholdings in the region.
