Kristina Gyllenstierna statue, Bronze statue at Stockholm Palace, Sweden.
The bronze statue represents Kristina Gyllenstierna, created by sculptor Theodor Lundberg and stands in the outer courtyard of Stockholm Palace.
During the winter of 1520, Kristina Gyllenstierna led Stockholm's defense against Danish forces after her husband Sten Sture the Younger died in battle.
The monument recognizes the role of noble women in Swedish medieval history through the depiction of Kristina Gyllenstierna's leadership and determination.
Visitors can find the statue in the northern section of Stockholm Palace's outer courtyard, near the main entrance to the royal residence.
Following her capture, King Kristian II imprisoned Kristina at Christiansborg Palace in Denmark from 1521 to 1524 before allowing her return to Sweden.
