Kristina Gyllenstierna statue, Bronze statue at Stockholm Palace, Sweden.

Kristina Gyllenstierna statue is a bronze work by sculptor Theodor Lundberg located in the outer courtyard of Stockholm Palace. The figure stands near the main entrances and shows a woman in medieval dress with a composed stance.

The statue commemorates a pivotal moment in 1520 when Kristina led Stockholm's defense against Danish forces after her husband died in battle. These events shaped Swedish-Danish relations for decades to come.

The statue recognizes noble women in Swedish history and how they took on leadership when men were absent or fallen in battle. Walking around it, visitors notice the pose and expression convey authority and resolve.

The statue stands in the northern section of the outer courtyard and is easy to find near the main palace entrance as you approach on foot. Since it is outdoors, it remains visible at all times regardless of official visiting hours.

After her capture, Kristina spent years in captivity far from home, an ordeal that tested her strength and resilience. Her eventual return to Sweden made her story one that people remembered and retold for generations.
