Tatlıca Waterfalls, Natural waterfalls in Erfelek district, Sinop Province, Turkey.
Tatlıca Waterfalls consist of 28 connected cascades flowing through wooden platforms and natural rock formations along the Karasu Stream in northern Turkey. The complex spreads across multiple elevation levels on the mountainside.
The waterfalls remained hidden until 1997 when construction workers discovered them while building access roads for the Erfelek Dam project. Official protection came in 2011 when the area received nature park status to safeguard its ecological value.
Local communities gather at the tea gardens throughout the site to spend time together, making this place an important social gathering spot for nearby villages. The waterfalls have become woven into the fabric of how people in the region spend their leisure time.
Visitors can walk through the waterfalls using maintained wooden platforms with rest areas at different points along the route. The pathways are designed for safe navigation across the multiple levels of the site.
Each of the 28 waterfalls has its own distinct character, creating individual pools and formations at different levels. This variety comes from the different rock types and water flow patterns found across the mountain terrain.
