Sinop Archaeological Museum, Archaeological museum in Sinop, Turkey.
The Sinop Archaeological Museum is a two-story building with multiple exhibition halls filled with objects from different periods of this region's past. The collections range from tools and ceramic figurines from the Early Bronze Age through to objects from the Byzantine period.
The collection began in 1921 when historical objects were first gathered in a school building before being moved to the Pervane Medrese in 1932. This early collecting work laid the foundation for the museum that now documents Sinop's long past.
The collection reflects how people in this region lived across centuries, from the coins they used daily to religious objects they kept in their homes. The famous mosaic showing the four seasons once decorated a wealthy household and reveals the artistic skills that flourished here.
The museum sits in central Sinop at Okullar Caddesi 2 and is easy to reach on foot. It offers both indoor galleries and an open-air section with archaeological structures to explore.
The outdoor section preserves a Serapeum temple and the Sultana's Tomb, a 1395 mausoleum holding three sarcophagi. One of these stone graves contains the remains of Süleyman Pasha's daughter, showing how local and Muslim dignitaries were buried here.
