Samsun Archeology and Ethnography Museum

The museum exhibits archaeological artifacts and ethnographic materials across multiple galleries, displaying items from ancient civilizations of Anatolia and local communities.

Founded in 1981, the museum emerged from a need to preserve regional artifacts that were previously sent to Kastamonu Museum due to storage limitations.

The ethnography section contains traditional handicrafts from Samsun, including bindals, manuscripts, Korans, and regional tools that represent local craftsmanship.

Information panels throughout the museum provide descriptions in multiple languages, making the exhibits accessible to both domestic and international visitors.

The collection features gold crowns and jewelry from Amisos tombs dated between 400-300 BC, along with a bronze athlete statue and Roman-era mosaics.
