Мукачівський історичний музей

The museum occupies several floors within Palanok Castle and displays collections spanning different periods of the region. The exhibits range from prehistoric artifacts to objects from modern times and document the material culture across centuries.

The museum was established in 1989 and preserves objects that demonstrate the castle's strategic role during medieval wars and later during Austro-Hungarian conflicts. The collection reflects the complex history of this border region.

The exhibition halls display regional folk costumes and traditional embroidery patterns that reflect local craftsmanship and identity. You can also view an art gallery featuring works by Ukrainian, Polish, and Hungarian painters.

The collection spans multiple floors, so plan several hours for your visit and wear comfortable shoes. Guided tours in various languages can be arranged in advance for groups.

A highlight is the medieval torture chamber, which reveals how punishment was carried out in earlier times. Another attraction is the former bedroom of Ilona Zrini, which now serves as a wedding venue.
