Cathedral of Martin of Tours, Mukacheve

The Cathedral of Martin of Tours is a church building with an eclectic mix of architectural styles, distinguished by a prominent tower with a clock and an entrance gate featuring vaulted arches. Inside, the space is enhanced by an organ built in 1913 by the Rieger Brothers from Budapest, which remains in the building today.

The original church structure dates to the 14th century but underwent several reconstructions over the following centuries. In 1905, the building was completely rebuilt following designs by architects Marton Wagner and Gyozo Czigler.

This church serves as the spiritual center for Catholic believers in the region and remains an active place of worship today. Visitors can witness how the community gathers here to practice their faith and celebrate religious occasions throughout the year.

The high altar features a painting of Saint Martin sharing his cloak with a beggar, commissioned in 1800 by Count Ervin Shenborn. This artwork depicts one of the most beloved stories associated with the saint honored by this church.
