Berezynka

Berezynka is a protected area in southeastern Ukraine featuring forest and shrubland characteristic of the Carpathian region. The site includes both natural woodland and a cultivated tree collection organized with different plant groupings.

An arboretum was founded in 1957 as an early conservation effort in this area. The formal protection status came in 1972, securing the preservation of these woodland zones for long-term conservation.

Local schools and nature groups regularly use this protected area for field trips and environmental education activities. Visitors can observe how the place functions as a hands-on classroom for learning about conservation.

Access is best arranged from the nearby town of Mukachevo, though limited public transportation in this rural area requires advance planning. Arriving by car or with a local guide helps you explore the site properly.

The arboretum section holds hundreds of tree and shrub species, including many coniferous varieties sourced from different parts of the world. This international collection demonstrates how plants from distant regions can grow side by side in this woodland setting.
