Founded in 1923 through the initiative of Dr. Arthur W. Booth and the Sons of the American Revolution, the society received its state charter in 1947.
The Booth Library maintains an archive of over one million items, including photographs, manuscripts, and maps documenting the regional heritage since the 18th century.
Located at 415 East Water Street, the museum displays 200 artifacts from its collection, including objects related to Mark Twain and Civil War items.
The institution houses the Thatcher Glass Manufacturing Company Collection, documenting a business that produced half of America's milk bottles at its peak.
