Elmira Coca-Cola Bottling Company Works
Elmira Coca-Cola Bottling Company Works, Art Moderne industrial building in Elmira, United States
The bottling plant at 415 West Second Street is a 1930s industrial structure with smooth, streamlined forms and geometric detailing that define its style. The building impresses with its clean lines and simplified shapes throughout its facade.
Architect Lucius Read White Jr. designed this bottling facility in 1939 as a modern manufacturing hub. Production of Coca-Cola products continued there until the late 1940s, after which the building was repurposed.
The building stands as a reminder of when manufacturing shaped the city's identity and local pride. You can feel this importance in how the structure was designed to be noticed from the street.
The building is easily visible from West Second Street and accessible for exterior viewing. Since it now houses a union office, the best way to experience it is to walk by and appreciate the facade.
The decorative element above the main entrance displays a level of craftsmanship rarely seen in modern industrial buildings today. This detail blends functional design with artistic intention in a way that sets it apart.
