Eldridge Park, Amusement park in Elmira, New York.
Eldridge Park is an amusement park spanning about 6 acres in Elmira with rides and attractions ranging from different time periods. You will find a wooden roller coaster, haunted house, shooting gallery, bumper cars, and a classic carousel, along with miniature golf and a train ride through the grounds.
The park was originally created as a sculpture garden by Dr. Edwin Eldridge, a pharmacist, and came under the city of Elmira's ownership in 1889 following his death. It was gradually transformed into an amusement destination over time.
The restored carousel from the 1890s with its hand-carved animals shows the craftsmanship of that era. You can see how much care went into creating each figure.
The park is open from late spring through early fall for visitors and features different zones with attractions and picnic areas. Food vendors operate throughout the grounds and weekends are the best time to visit when all attractions are running.
The adjacent Eldridge Lake has long been the subject of local lore claiming it was bottomless with an underground passage connecting to a distant water body. Its actual depth tells a very different story.
