The Arnot Art Museum occupies a Greek Revival mansion at 235 Lake Street, featuring extensive galleries for European and American art collections.
The museum originated in 1913 when Matthias Hallenback Arnot donated his residence and art collection to the City of Elmira upon his death.
The permanent collection includes seventeenth to nineteenth century European paintings and nineteenth to twentieth century American artworks from notable artists.
The museum welcomes visitors from Tuesday through Friday between 10 AM and 5 PM, with Saturday hours from noon until 5 PM.
The building received a major enhancement in the 1890s with the installation of gas lighting systems and a large skylight for art display.
