Eddie Pellagrini Diamond at John Shea Field, Baseball stadium in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.
The Eddie Pellagrini Diamond at John Shea Field was a baseball stadium in Chestnut Hill with seating for about 1,000 people and field dimensions of 330 feet (100 meters) in left field and 320 feet (97 meters) in right field. The facility featured fixed seat-back chairs and a grass playing surface.
The stadium opened in 1961 as the home field for Boston College Eagles baseball. It was closed and demolished in 2017, ending more than 50 years of baseball competition at the university's Chestnut Hill campus.
The field honored Eddie Pellagrini, who shaped the Boston College baseball program for many years, and John Shea, a former football player. Both names reflect important figures in the university's athletic history.
The location was situated on Boston College's Chestnut Hill campus and was accessible through the university. Since the facility closed in 2017, it is no longer available to visit as a baseball venue.
The final game took place on May 20, 2017, marking the end of an important era in the university's baseball program. This closing event was particularly meaningful for players, coaches, and students who had called the field home.
