Harrington Beach State Park

Harrington Beach State Park is a protected area along Lake Michigan featuring forested trails, wetland habitats, and a sandy shoreline. The grounds also contain a lake formed from a former quarry, along with remnants of buildings from its industrial past.

The site operated as a dolomite quarry between 1890 and 1925 with a worker settlement called Stonehaven, where immigrants from Luxembourg and Eastern Europe labored. After quarrying ceased, the land was converted into a recreational area.

The park includes preserved foundations of former quarry buildings, telling the story of Wisconsin's industrial development and immigrant communities.

The park offers camping sites, fishing areas, and several miles of trails suitable for different abilities. Visitors should bring warm clothing, as weather along the lakeside can be changeable and cool.

A large lake on the grounds formed entirely from a former stone quarry pit and is surrounded by white cedar swamps. This creates an unusual habitat that draws anglers and nature observers.
