Haverford College Arboretum, Campus botanical garden in Haverford, United States.
Haverford College Arboretum spans the entire college campus with natural woodlands, cultivated garden areas, and clearly marked walking paths throughout the grounds. The space mixes forest sections with organized plant collections, allowing visitors to experience both wild and planted landscapes in one visit.
An English gardener designed the original landscape in 1834, creating one of the oldest planned college grounds in America. This early design continues to shape how the place looks and functions today.
The space serves as a gathering place where students walk between classes beneath old trees and take time to observe the seasons changing. It functions as an outdoor classroom where the landscape itself teaches about plant diversity and natural growth.
The grounds are free to visit daily from sunrise to sunset without any admission required. A marked trail circles the campus and provides an easy introduction to the different sections and plant areas.
A special collection contains over 300 mature conifers displayed by plant family, including some of the largest specimens of their kind in the region. Seeing them arranged this way reveals how different trees in the same family grow differently from each other.
