John Deere World Headquarters

John Deere World Headquarters comprises multiple buildings across a large property, with a seven-story main structure overlooking two artificial ponds. The entire site features carefully landscaped grounds and modern architectural design.

The architectural design began in 1964, but the project faced a transition when the original architect passed away and another designer took over to complete the construction. This period marked significant changes in how farm equipment was manufactured and distributed.

The pavilion on the grounds displays exhibits showing how farm equipment has evolved and how farmers have used technology over time. Visitors can see firsthand the connection between industrial innovation and agricultural life.

The grounds are open to visitors during the week, and the landscaped areas invite you to walk around freely. Keep in mind that the office interiors are not open to the public, but the exterior spaces offer plenty to explore.

The exterior uses a special steel that develops a natural protective layer as it ages and oxidizes over time. The resulting color resembles freshly turned soil, a deliberate design choice that reflects the company's agricultural roots.
