Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center, Movie theater and university building at University of Nebraska-Lincoln, United States.
The Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center is a university building and movie theater on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus with two screening halls. The larger theater seats 236 people while the smaller one holds 106, both designed for showing independent and international films.
The center was made possible by a major gift from Mary Riepma Ross in 1990 that funded the entire project. Construction began in 2001 and the building opened to the public in December 2003.
The center shows documentary and experimental films while hosting conversations with filmmakers who engage with the university community. You will find a cinema closely linked to academic study, where local and international artists are regularly featured.
Both theaters use modern digital projection and sound systems that deliver quality film presentations. The building sits on the university campus and tends to be most active during the academic semester.
The center houses a specialized research library and film archive that preserves a significant collection of media and historical materials. This collection is open to students and scholars who want to explore film history in depth.
