Martin Tower, Corporate skyscraper in Bethlehem, United States.
Martin Tower was a 21-story skyscraper in Bethlehem designed with a distinctive cross-shaped floor plan and expansive windows in International Style steel frame construction. The four identical facades emphasized horizontal and vertical lines, creating a symmetrical and functional form.
The building was constructed in 1972 as headquarters for Bethlehem Steel Company and became the tallest structure in Lehigh Valley at that time. Its demolition in 2019 marked the end of an era for regional steel manufacturing.
The tower symbolized the region's steel manufacturing heritage and defined Bethlehem's skyline as a visible reminder of the industry that shaped the city for decades.
The building featured ten elevators and numerous corner offices positioned to receive natural light from multiple sides. Visitors accessing upper floors could enjoy sweeping views across the city and surrounding valley.
The architects deliberately chose a cross shape instead of a traditional square floor plan to create four times more corner offices per floor. This unusual design allowed many executives to enjoy natural light and views from their desks.
