Central Park, Amusement park in Rittersville, Allentown, US.
Central Park was a 40-acre recreational area featuring walking paths through wooded sections, picnic areas, and several entertainment attractions. Three roller coasters named Derby Racer, Skyclone, and Sleigh Ride, plus a dance auditorium, offered different activities for guests.
The land began in 1868 as a race course called Manhattan Park and later grew into a larger recreational destination. Multiple fires eventually led to its permanent closure in 1951.
The site served as a gathering place where community events like auto shows and roller skating brought people together. These activities shaped local social life during the 1920s.
The park was walkable with paths connecting different sections, making it easy to move between attractions and green spaces. Visitors could choose between active rides and relaxing outdoor strolls.
After closure in 1951, the land sat unused for a decade before becoming residential housing in the 1960s. This transition left little trace of what was once a popular day trip destination.
