Mount Hale

Mount Hale is a summit in the White Mountains that rises to about 4,000 feet and can be reached via a steady trail through thick forest with several stream crossings. The path is well-maintained and leads to an open, grassy peak marked with a large stone cairn.

The peak was named after Reverend Edward Everett Hale, a 19th century Unitarian minister and author known for his literary works. A fire tower once stood at the summit before it was removed.

The peak belongs to New Hampshire's collection of 4000-footers, attracting hikers who pursue the completion of this established mountain climbing achievement list.

The hike starts from a parking area on Zealand Road and is accessible year-round, though conditions vary with the season. The trail is well-marked, but sturdy footwear and preparation for mountain weather are recommended.
