Narrowsburg–Darbytown Bridge, Interstate bridge over Delaware River between New York and Pennsylvania.
The Narrowsburg-Darbytown Bridge is a road bridge crossing the Delaware River between Darbytown, Pennsylvania and Narrowsburg, New York. It provides two traffic lanes connecting Pennsylvania Route 652 with New York State Route 52 for vehicle passage across the waterway.
A wooden bridge was first constructed here in 1810 by the Narrowsburg Bridge Company as a privately chartered crossing. The structure has been rebuilt and maintained several times since then to accommodate changing transportation needs.
The bridge stands at the narrowest section of the Delaware River, where local communities from both states gather for regional celebrations and events.
The bridge is open for regular vehicle traffic and provides free crossing between the two states without any toll charges. Following comprehensive repairs and repainting in 2018, the structure remains in good working condition for daily use.
Early travelers paid specific toll rates of 37 cents for single-horse wagons and one dollar for four-horse wagons, equivalent to a full day's wage.
