The Palestra is a multipurpose venue in Pennsylvania used for sporting events and university competitions. The steel and concrete structure rises three stories and holds roughly 8700 spectators on continuous bench seating.
The facility opened in the late 1920s and was among the first major venues built without supporting columns inside. This design allowed spectators an unobstructed view of the playing floor from every seat.
This building serves as the home court for a city tradition where five area universities compete in basketball games throughout the season. Students and alumni fill the stands during these matchups, creating an energetic environment with chants and cheers.
