Sedgwick Theatre, Art deco theater in Mt. Airy, Philadelphia, US

The Sedgwick Theater occupies a grand building on Germantown Avenue, featuring decorative plasterwork, glass chandeliers, and relief ceilings reflecting 1920s architectural design.

Architect William Harold Lee designed this entertainment venue in 1928, creating a movie palace that operated until 1966 before becoming a warehouse for several decades.

Since 2010, the Quintessence Theatre Group has transformed this space into their permanent residence, presenting classical repertory productions throughout regular seasons.

The theater maintains an intimate performance space in the front lobby area while undergoing renovations to expand seating capacity to 250 for future productions.

The building bears the name of Sedgwick Tourison, whose family contributed significantly to the development of the Mount Airy neighborhood in Philadelphia.
