Telfair, Sugar Land

Telfair is a residential community in Sugar Land that spreads across several hundred acres with different types of homes and recreation areas. The neighborhood includes an artificial lake and multiple parks where families can spend time outdoors.

The land was part of a state prison facility until 2002, when Newland Communities purchased it for development. Construction of homes began in 2006, transforming the former prison grounds into a residential community.

The Imperial State Farm Cemetery stands as a burial ground within the community that speaks to its past. Walking through it, visitors encounter a quiet reminder of the people and stories connected to this place.

Visitors can explore the parks and lake, which are especially pleasant during warmer months. The residential streets are walkable and offer a good sense of the community layout.

Inside the community sits a natural science museum housed in a converted prison building that underwent extensive renovation. This repurposed structure now serves as an educational space for visitors.
