W. B. Thompson Mansion

The W. B. Thompson Mansion is a Renaissance Revival house in Yonkers located 600 feet (183 m) from North Broadway atop a slight rise. The limestone structure features a tiled hipped roof, multi-pane casement windows, and expansive interior rooms with wooden parquet floors.

Mining magnate William Boyce Thompson commissioned the architectural firm Carrère and Hastings to design this weekend residence in the early 1900s. The building was created as a luxury retreat for one of the wealthiest businessmen of his era.

The interior spaces display rich walnut paneling and polished marble floors that reflect the owner's refined way of living. The music room with its coffered ceiling served as a gathering place for cultural events and social occasions.

The property now operates as an events venue for weddings and film productions, which allows visitors access to the interior spaces. Since the building is actively used for events, it is best to check ahead about visiting availability.

The grounds include terraces and a walled garden incorporating authentic Roman artifacts throughout the landscaping. These ancient pieces came from Thompson's collecting interests and give the outdoor areas an unexpected archaeological character.
