Micke Grove Regional Park, Regional park in Lodi, United States
Micke Grove is a 132-acre recreational space in San Joaquin County that includes a zoo, Japanese gardens, and a lake featuring a 40-foot water fountain. The park has separate areas for walking, observing animals, and relaxing in landscaped zones.
William G. Micke donated a 65-acre oak grove to San Joaquin County in 1938, then expanded his gift with an additional 145 acres. This donation created the foundation for today's park as a community resource.
The San Joaquin County Historical Museum inside the park shares stories of the region through exhibits and educational activities that connect visitors to local heritage. The collections document how communities lived and changed across generations.
The park opens daily and features multiple areas that are easily reached on foot, with pathways connecting the different attractions throughout. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and prepare for varying terrain, especially when exploring near the lake.
The Japanese garden was designed in 1965 by landscape architect Nagao Sakurai and features a tea house, koi pond, and cherry blossom trees. This specialized area displays traditional garden design that stands apart from the other park zones.
