1 Manhattan West, Office building in Hudson Yards, Manhattan, US.
1 Manhattan West is a 67-story glass office tower located at 395 Ninth Avenue in Hudson Yards. The structure contains more than 2 million square feet of office space across its 303-meter height.
Brookfield Asset Management acquired land for the Manhattan West project starting in the 1980s. Construction began in 2015 after the firm secured Skadden as the first major tenant for the new offices.
The main lobby showcases Italian travertine and Canadian stone alongside wooden accents that make the space feel refined. Materials from different parts of the world come together to shape how the building presents itself to visitors.
The building offers convenient transportation connections with direct access to Pennsylvania Station, the Hudson Yards subway station, and PATH trains. Multiple bus routes also serve the location, providing employees with several commuting options.
The structure spans active railroad tracks beneath it, requiring a reinforced concrete core and diagonal steel bracing to handle the loads. This engineering challenge shaped how the building's foundation was designed and built.
