DC9 Nightclub

DC9 is a nightclub and music venue in Shaw with two distinct levels that serve different purposes. The ground floor operates as a saloon bar where guests can browse and play songs on a digital jukebox, while the upstairs space transforms into a concert hall for live bands and DJ sets.

The venue opened in 2004 in a location on Ninth Street that had hosted other music spaces before. This founding moment established what would become an ongoing presence for live music and nightlife in the neighborhood.

The venue draws crowds interested in independent music and dance events, with regular karaoke nights that bring together different kinds of music lovers in one space.

During DJ events, the venue enforces a phone-free policy requiring guests to check their devices along with their coats. This rule helps create a focused environment where people can fully engage with the music and each other.

A glass-enclosed rooftop bar was added in 2010, creating a separate entertainment space where guests can enjoy views of the neighborhood. This upper area offers a quieter alternative to the main floors while still being part of the overall nightlife experience.
