Piper Aviation Museum, Aviation museum in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, US.
The Piper Aviation Museum is housed in the former Piper Aircraft engineering building at William T. Piper Memorial Airport and displays numerous aircraft models alongside engineering documents. The facility preserves both the planes and the technical records that tell the story of their design and production.
Piper Aircraft Corporation relocated to Lock Haven from Bradford in 1937 and made the town a center for aircraft production for several decades. When manufacturing ended in 1984, the company left behind a significant industrial legacy.
The collection displays various aircraft types such as the J3 Cub and PA-22 Tri-Pacer, reflecting Pennsylvania's important role in aircraft development. Visitors can see how these planes shaped the region's industrial identity.
The museum is accessible during weekdays and also open on weekends with slightly later opening times on Saturday and Sunday. Being located at an active airport, visitors may see operational aircraft during their visit.
Each June, the annual Sentimental Journey event brings together pilots and enthusiasts at the airport to display working vintage aircraft. This annual gathering connects the active flying community with the museum and puts historical planes back in the air.
