The Williams-Pratt House spans 11,040 square feet and features a grand portico supported by six Ionic columns with iron railings by August Feine & Sons.
Built between 1896 and 1899 by architectural firm McKim, Mead & White, the mansion suffered a fire in 1900 that caused damage estimated between 6,000 and 7,000 dollars.
The residence became GAR Memorial Hall in 1941 after the City of Buffalo acquired it, marking a transition from private residence to public institution.
The property includes a 6,242-square-foot carriage house and remains accessible through gates manufactured by John H. Williams Iron Works of Buffalo.
During its residential period, the mansion hosted an Oriental Ball in 1926 that transformed its interior spaces with elaborate decorations.
