Clement House, Historic mansion in Delaware Avenue, Buffalo, United States.
Clement House is a large historic mansion on Delaware Avenue containing 20 rooms, including a music room with two Steinway grand pianos and a pipe organ. The building spans 17,000 square feet and displays the classical architecture typical of an early 20th century wealthy residence.
The mansion was built in 1913 by architect Edward Brodhead Green for Stephen and Carolyn Clement, replacing an earlier residence from 1855 on the same site. In 1941, the Clement family donated the building to the Red Cross, where it continues to serve as a community facility.
The house began as a private residence for a wealthy family and now serves as a gathering place for community organizations and cultural activities. Its grand rooms still reflect the elegance of its early days, though they have been adapted to welcome visitors and host public events.
Access and visiting are best arranged by contacting the organizations housed within the building beforehand. The site is easily reached from Delaware Avenue, which is a major street through the historic neighborhood.
Since 2017, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra partners with the Red Cross and uses the house as a shared venue. This collaboration shows how the building now brings together both cultural and humanitarian purposes.
