Caracas Beach

Caracas Beach is a public beach on the southern shore of Vieques with white coral sand and clear water, bordered by green cliffs and tropical vegetation. The shoreline features natural tidal pools near the water's edge where small marine creatures inhabit.

The beach served as a U.S. Navy testing ground until 2003, when it underwent a significant transformation in its purpose and use. It was subsequently incorporated into the National Wildlife Refuge system, protecting the natural environment for public access.

The beach serves as a gathering spot for locals on weekends, where families and friends come together for recreation and community events. Volleyball games and casual sports are common sights that reflect how residents enjoy their leisure time here.

The beach provides parking areas, picnic gazebos, and public facilities near the refuge entrance for visitor convenience. Early morning hours tend to offer better swimming conditions and fewer crowds throughout the day.

The beach features natural tidal pools that invite visitors to observe small sea creatures and explore shallow-water snorkeling. These shallow basins form naturally and provide something beyond the typical beach experience.
