American Wings Air Museum, Aviation museum in Blaine, Minnesota, US.
The American Wings Air Museum was an aviation museum that displayed hundreds of aircraft from military and civilian operations. The collection featured well-known models such as the Grumman OV-1 Mohawk, the Northrop F-5 Tiger II, and the Sikorsky UH-34D Seahorse, along with many other historical aircraft.
Mike Langer founded the museum in 1985 with the goal of preserving aviation history and making it accessible to the public. The museum was forced to close in 2009 due to rising rental costs at Anoka County-Blaine Airport.
The museum served as an educational center, presenting aviation technology developments through exhibits of both military and civilian aircraft collections.
The museum was located at Anoka County-Blaine Airport and was easily accessible from this location. The collection was partially housed in an Annex facility at the south end of the airport, which simplified navigation for visitors.
The museum preserved not just famous fighter jets but also specialized helicopters like the UH-34D Seahorse, which served in the US Navy. These lesser-known aircraft gave visitors a more complete view of the diverse history of military aviation.
