Big Bear Mountain is a steel coaster in the Wildwood Grove section of Dollywood that stretches 3,990 feet through forested terrain, using two magnetic launches and reaching 48 miles per hour (77 km/h). The track winds through the landscape with turns and gentle drops.
The coaster opened in May 2023 as part of the largest expansion in Dollywood history. It marked a new chapter for the Tennessee park.
The ride narrative follows wilderness explorer Ned Oakley, who leads guests through the Smokies in search of the mysterious Big Bear. This storyline connects the experience to the surrounding mountain region.
Riders must be at least 39 inches tall to board, and each train carries 20 people through the 104-second ride. Expect longer waits on warm weekends and during holiday periods.
Onboard speakers play music and announcements throughout the ride. This was the first installation of its kind at the park.
