Dragonflier, Steel roller coaster in Wildwood Grove, Dollywood, Tennessee.
Dragonflier is a suspended steel coaster at Wildwood Grove where riders sit in ten cars attached beneath the track rather than on top of it. The green track spans about 1,486 feet with emerald-colored steel structures supporting the path.
This coaster opened in May 2019 as a centerpiece of Wildwood Grove, the largest expansion project in Dollywood's history. The new zone introduced multiple new rides and areas that significantly enlarged the park's total capacity.
The ride reflects Dollywood's connection to Appalachian heritage through its setting within the park's themed area. Visitors experience how the surroundings honor local craft and mountain traditions during their visit.
The ride accommodates twenty passengers per train distributed across ten cars with two riders side by side in each section. Visitors should know that the suspended design creates an unusual sensation and may not suit everyone's comfort level.
Unlike most roller coasters, riders on this attraction sit completely beneath the track, creating the sensation of flying rather than being supported from below. This suspended design is less common and produces a fundamentally different experience compared to traditional track-on-top arrangements.
