Tennessee Tornado, Steel roller coaster in Dollywood, Tennessee, US
Tennessee Tornado is a steel roller coaster at Dollywood that performs three complete inversions while climbing to a peak of 163 feet. The ride twists through a winding 2,682-foot track featuring sharp turns and tight spirals throughout the route.
This coaster was built by Arrow Dynamics and debuted on April 17, 1999 in the Craftsman's Valley section of Dollywood. It was one of the park's early major thrill rides when it first opened.
The roller coaster design incorporates elements of Tennessee mining heritage within Dollywood, a park celebrating Appalachian traditions and mountain crafts.
Riders need to be at least 48 inches tall to board, and the ride uses over-the-shoulder harnesses to keep everyone secure during inversions. The line tends to move steadily during late afternoon hours when crowds spread out across the park.
Riders experience forces up to three times gravity while navigating through a vertical loop and multiple spiral turns amid the Smoky Mountains landscape.
