Represa El Dique Uraca, Historical dam in Municipio Girardot, Venezuela.

Represa El Dique Uraca is a hydroelectric dam featuring reinforced concrete construction with a mobile metal gate and lateral spillway along the Uraca national road. The facility channels water flow to generate electricity through its engineered water control system.

Built in 1923 by engineer Carlos Blascitz, the installation was designed to supply electricity to Maracay. It became one of Venezuela's pioneer hydroelectric facilities during the early industrial period.

The dam represents Venezuela's early industrial advancement and shows how people harnessed water power for progress. It stands as a symbol of how engineering shaped regional development and modern living.

Access is available through the La Pesita entrance along the Uraca national road, making the site relatively easy to reach. Wear comfortable clothing and be prepared for uneven terrain around the dam area.

German technology supplied by H. Ceballos & Company was used in its construction, making it a notable example of international technical cooperation. This foreign expertise was essential to bringing this pioneering facility to life.
