Ward's Lake

The lake features a wooden bridge across its horse-shoe shape, with cobblestone footpaths winding through surrounding botanical gardens and flower beds.

Sir William Ward, Chief Commissioner of Assam, planned this lake which Colonel Hopkins constructed in 1894 following designs by Fitzwilliam Thomas Pollok.

The lake serves as a central gathering space where residents and visitors participate in recreational activities while appreciating the natural surroundings.

Visitors can rent paddle boats to explore the water, visit the lakeside cafeteria, or walk along the stone paths that circle the entire water body.

During autumn, the lake area transforms when cherry blossoms bloom, while resident ducks populate the waters throughout the year.
